Each family is going to be comfortable with a different style of curriculum. Go with
the one that really "clicks" for you. For instance, we have "Writing Power" listed in
the Essential Resources section. While that is essentially all you need to teach
writing for all your children through high school, we have also listed "Learning
Language Arts Through Literature" for those who desire a more structured approach
for language skills.
ESSENTIAL RESOURCES
These are items we recommend every
homeschooling family should have. They are all non-consumable & indispensable for
whatever level(s) you have. One copy of each covers all students for all their school
years. They simplify the schooling process, save time and energy for the teacher,
and save money for the buyer.
HELPFUL EXTRAS
Most of these items are non-consumable. They are reusable or reproducible (for home use only).
A few need workbooks purchased for each student.
SCOPE & SEQUENCE
While these are our top recommended resources for each of the grade levels, this is
just an example of what you could use. This list works great for individual students.
However, we encourage you to integrate as many grade levels and subjects as
appropriate for more than one student. While students typically need to work on
different levels for math and phonics, the remaining subjects can easily be adapted
for multiple grade levels. Each child progresses at a different rate. For math and
language skills, allow your students to progress as quickly as they are able. Choose
curriculum to match their ability level rather than their supposed grade level. We
encourage you to pray for direction as you choose resources for your family. If
you need help customizing your family's education, please contact us. We'll be
glad to help!
