It is our Ministry and Mission to help you Succeed
in the Comprehensive Education of Your Children
Thank you for visiting Heppner’s Legacy Homeschool Resources. Summer has finally
arrived here in the Midwest after a cool, late, and wet spring. That will mean a
shift in schedules for many of you. Some will be schooling through summer in various
ways both inside and outside of books; many of you are deep into making your fall
plans; and some of you are welcoming a complete respite from anything but spontaneous
learning. We plan to be available throughout the coming months to support you in
whichever you choose. Remember that we are here to answer your questions and can
special order many items that you may not see on the website.
Our spring was filled with conferences (3 new ones, 6 total) and wonderful visits by
two well-known homeschool families. On May 22nd we hosted a book-signing by Chris and
Wendy Jeub at our Elk River, MN store. The Jeubs were one of three families featured
in the TLC series "Kids by the Dozen", along with the Heppners. Among their
books they signed that evening were:
Love in the House
Love in the Kitchen
On June 22nd we were also pleased to host the Harold and Rebekah Mally family as
they made their way north to conduct a "Bright Lights" event. To learn more
about the Mally ministries, please visit their website at http://www.tomorrowsforefathers.com.
Books by the Mallys include:
Before You Meet Prince Charming
Making Brothers and Sisters Best Friends

Nancy’s Notes - One of the great pitfalls for homeschool moms is buying too much school
material. Remember: "Less is More". As you plan your school year, be wise
and realistic in your choices. Too much curriculum will be burdensome on your budget,
your time, and your family relationships. If you spend money on it you will feel
pressure to use it even if it’s not working. Avoid the trap. Work your way into
familiarity with your new resources and routines. You can always add more later
to fill any needs. You do not need to duplicate school at home - that’s the point,
isn’t it?
We pray that you will find time to relax and enjoy your family this summer. Academics aren’t everything! Play a game, take a walk, pitch a tent, make ice cream, paddle a canoe, roast a marshmallow, read some fiction, build something, sip lemonade, catch a bug, go barefoot, jump in a lake – you get the idea.
Blessings,
Brad & Nancy Bjorkman
