Primaries and Preschoolers - Nancy Bjorkman

Considering homeschooling? Not sure where to begin? This workshop will help define several
different learning and teaching styles found in homeschooling families. We will work together
to define realistic and foundational goals for homeschooling that will get new homeschool
families off to a solid start. A discussion will follow of resources and curriculum to fit
your family’s particular style. We’ll cover some common roadblocks and misconceptions
about "what school should look like" and also discuss many of the stages that
homeschool families experience as they walk through the years. There will be a time for

Meal Management in an Age of Fast Food - Nancy Bjorkman

Explore the reasons and how-to’s of once-a-month cooking and several other methods of meal
planning. Save time, money and energy while enjoying quick, healthy meals. Once you’ve
tried it, you’ll wonder why you waited. This workshop will explore many ideas for managing
the daily chore of feeding your family. The talk will include the benefits and methods for
bulk cooking. I will teach about the savings seen in time, energy, money, stress levels and
nutrition, as well as the increased enjoyment in sharing hospitality with others. We will
then look at the how-to’s for getting it done and some of the resources available to get
people on their way.

Nancy will use her 18 years of homeschool experience to identify several seasons of
homeschooling from early childhood through high school. I will cover a basic scope and
sequence for these stages and recommend some strategies and resources for each. We will
also take some time to interact as a group to glean ideas from other attendees. We’ll talk
about where things like Grammar fit into the big picture and what exactly is Pre-Algebra.
We’ll also cover what long term goals might look like and how to create them. Novices will
find great direction and veterans will be refreshed.
