PRIVACY AND USE POLICY - COMMITMENT TO YOUR PRIVACY
This site is owned and operated by Legacy Homeschool,LLC, doing business as Heppner's Legacy Homeschool Resources. We are a homeschool family like you and are committed to treating you in the same way we would want to be treated (Mark 12:31). Therefore, your privacy on the internet is of the utmost importance to us. At Legacy Homeschool, LLC, we want to make your experience online both satisfying and safe.
Because we need to gather certain types of information in order to serve you, we feel you should fully understand our Privacy and Use Policy and the terms and conditions surrounding the collection and use of that information. This Privacy and Use Policy statement discloses what information we gather and how we use it.
INFORMATION LEGACY HOMESCHOOL, LLC GATHERS AND TRACKS
Legacy Homeschool, LLC gathers two types of information about users:
- Information that users provide through optional, voluntary submissions: These are voluntary submissions necessary for users to order product(s), send e-mail from our site (e.g., to a friend), receive e-mail from us, submit product reviews, participate in polls and surveys, and similar activities. We may also ask for additional information to help us maintain an accurate customer list.
- Information we gather through aggregated tracking information: This information, derived mainly by tallying page views throughout our sites, allows us to better tailor our content to our users' needs. It is never linked in any way to any individual user.
We offer the following services, which require some type of voluntary submission of personal information by users:
1. E-mails We Initiate (Dispatches)
While e-mail is an incredibly efficient (fast and inexpensive) means of communication, all of us have received too many unwanted e-mails. We are a homeschool family like you and are committed to treating you in the same way we would want to be treated (Mark 12:31). Therefore, we will not knowingly share your e-mail address with any third party, except to comply with applicable law or valid legal process, or to protect the personal safety of our users or the public. In addition, we will not send e-mail to you except as outlined below. We may ask for your e-mail address and subsequently send e-mail to you for four reasons:
a.) Communicate the status of your order - We may send e-mail(s) to you in order to advise you of the status of an order you have placed with us.
b.) Reply to an inquiry from you - We may send e-mail(s) to you in order to reply to an inquiry from you.
c.) Send an inquiry or reminder to you - We may occasionally send e-mail(s) to you for other normal business purposes, e.g. to confirm your contact information, to send reminders of events for which you've registered (e.g. in-store events), etc.
d.) Electronic Newsletter - We plan to offer a free electronic newsletter to users who elect to receive it. We plan to distribute approximately 6 - 8 electronic newsletters per year (about every other month, on average), and never more than 12. We will only send electronic newsletters to those who voluntarily subscribe to this service. Users may remove themselves from this mailing list at any time by following the link provided in every newsletter that points users to the subscription management page, or at our site. Users can also subscribe to the electronic newsletters at the time of registration ("My Account"), and at other locations within our site.
Important: You will not automatically be placed on our Electronic Newletter (e-mail) list when you place an order with us, or send an inquiry to us via e-mail. You must voluntarily and specifically "opt in" in order to receive this service.
2. "Tell A Friend" E-mail Policy Our site users can choose to electronically forward a link, page, or documents to someone else by clicking one of the "Tell A Friend" options. The user must provide their e-mail address, as well as that of the recipient. This information is used only in the case of transmission errors and, of course, to let the recipient know who sent the e-mail. This information is not used for any other purpose.
OTHER PROCESSES
3. Order Fulfillment
In order to fulfill a request for product(s) it is necessary to gather certain information. This usually includes shipping information (name, address, etc.), billing information (name, address, e-mail address, telephone number, etc.), and payment information (credit card number, etc.). Occasionally other information may also be needed. If a user wishes, much of this information can be saved in our secure site servers in order to make their next visit more efficient. This is done by creating an account ("My Account"). Otherwise this information is saved by us only as required for good business practices, e.g., an invoice record, record of sale, etc.
4. Reviews
Users may elect to contribute product reviews which may be shared with the public, e.g., on our site. While anyone may view posted reviews, only users who have logged into their account at our site ("My Account") may submit reviews. Users are responsible for the content of the product reviews they submit. By submitting a product review, users are granting to Legacy Homeschool, LLC exclusive and unlimited use of the submitted content. Legacy Homeschool, LLC reserves the right to edit or refuse to post some or all of any submitted review for any reason, including but not limited to inappropriate and/or offensive content. In addition, limited personal information may also be displayed with each review. This may include a partial name, city, and state of the reviewer, or a "Username" defined by the user. Users should examine the personal information displayed with existing reviews at our site, and determine whether they want their similar personal information publicly displayed, before submitting reviews for publication.
5. Polling
We may offer interactive polls to users so they can easily share their opinions with other users and see what our audience thinks about important issues. Opinions or other responses to polls are aggregated and are not identifiable to any particular user. We may use a system to "tag" users after they have voted, so they can vote only once on a particular question. This tag is not correlated with information about individual users.
6. Surveys
Legacy Homeschool, LLC may occasionally conduct voluntary user surveys to improve our ministry and service to users. We never share any of this information about specific individuals with any third party.
Children
Consistent with the Federal Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 (COPPA), we will never knowingly request personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 13 without requesting parental consent.
Usage tracking
Legacy Homeschool, LLC tracks user traffic patterns throughout all of our sites. However, we do not correlate this information with data about individual users. Legacy Homeschool, LLC does break down overall usage statistics according to a user's domain name, browser type, and MIME type by reading this information from the browser string (information contained in every user's browser). Legacy Homeschool, LLC sometimes tracks and catalogs the search terms that users enter in our Search function, but this tracking is never associated with individual users. We use tracking information to determine which areas of our sites users like and don't like based on traffic to those areas. We do not track what individual users read, but rather how well each page performs overall. This helps us continue to build a better service for you.
Cookies
We may place a text file called a "cookie" in the browser files of your computer. The cookie itself does not contain Personal Information although it will enable us to relate your use of this site to information that you have specifically and knowingly provided. But the only personal information a cookie can contain is information you supply yourself. A cookie can't read data off your hard disk or read cookie files created by other sites. Legacy Homeschool, LLC uses cookies to track user traffic patterns (as described above).
You can refuse cookies by turning them off in your browser. If you've set your browser to warn you before accepting cookies, you will receive the warning message with each cookie. You do not need to have cookies turned on to use this site. However, you do need cookies to participate actively in polling and surveys.
